PROSTATE CANCER AWARENESS CAMPAIGN REACHES DRIVERS AND OKADA RIDERS IN ADIDOME
DHD/Adidome Hospital Advocacy Team engages men and communities in one-on-one awareness and screening mobilisation

The Advocacy Team of the District Health Directorate (DHD)/Adidome Hospital, together with Madam Margaret Fenuku a Unit Committee Member of Adidome, has intensified efforts to promote prostate cancer awareness and screening among men in the Central Tongu District.
The team, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Accra Airport East and International Needs, embarked on a one-on-one engagement and mobilisation exercise at the Adidome Lorry Station on Monday, September 7, 2026.
During the outreach, drivers, okada riders, traders and other community members were engaged on prostate cancer, with emphasis on the importance of early detection, regular screening and seeking medical attention when necessary.
The team also extended the awareness campaign beyond the lorry station, visiting individual shops, the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), the HNIS Office, Adidome Police Station, the Ghana Education Service (GES) Office, as well as the Muslim community.
The engagements provided an opportunity for the team to interact directly with community members, answer questions and encourage eligible men to take prostate cancer screening seriously.
The initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to increase awareness of prostate cancer and encourage early screening, particularly among men who may be at increased risk.
The organisers expressed their commitment to reaching more men across the district with vital information on prostate cancer prevention, early detection and screening.
